I chose the painting New York Movie by Edward Hopper. It was painted in 1939. The medium is oil on canvas. The size is 32 1/4 by 40 1/8 inches. It is located at the Museum of Modern
Art. Hopper does a good job showing
perspective and dimension.
He uses the complimentary colors green and red in this painting. I like how well he shows the lighting of the
theater with highlights and shadows. I
also like how the painting tells as story.
It makes me question why the woman is leaning against the wall instead
of watching the movie.
