The Face of War

The Face of War
Dali
1940

This painting by Dali was painted after the Spanish Civil War, but before the Second World War. Trauma and war were often the subjects and inspirations of Dali's work. The painting has different sets of skulls inside each skulls as well as snakes and it set in a barren, dry dessert. I think that this painting represents war very well, it shows what is lost in war, lives as well as cities and homes.
