This self portrait was painted by Vincent Van Gogh while in France around 1887. This was roughly 2 years before he decided to remove his ear. It is an oil on canvas and its dimensions are 16 inches by 12.5 inches. I like how the brush strokes layer on top of another and make it seem like there is motion in the painting. His color choice works perfectly and is appealing to the eye. I also like the colors he chose for the background, he easily stands out. Out of all his self portraits, this one is by far my favorite.
