Manet "A Bar at the Folies-Bergere"

This is an oil on canvas painting done by Edouard Manet in 1882. The painting depicts a woman working behind a bar, the woman looks very detached and upset. I chose this painting because I loved how realistic the counter of the bar looked yet how blurred and the background of the people through the mirror are. The mirror behind the woman is what I really found interesting about the painting because it allows you to see the painting through the woman's point of view. Instead of focusing on the bar or the bar maid, Manet focused on his impressions through color.
