"The Son Of Man"

I chose to choose a painting by Rene Magritte because I liked his intricate meanings and his surrealist style. This work is entitled "The Son Of Man". "The Son Of Man" was painted in 1964 and is oil on canvas. This painting is of a man supposedly Magritte as it has been said that this is a self portrait. the man is standing by a gray wall with a blue cloudy background. His suit is dull but the red tie and green apple stand out. The apple and the title reminded me of adam and eve and eating the apple but Magritte's meaning was that people always want to see whats hidden. Which was his reasoning for hiding his face.

"Everything we see hides another thing; we always want to see what is hidden by what we see, that it is impossible. Humans hide their secrets too well."
- Rene Magritte
