This is a painting done by Edgar Degas in 1876 entitled "Prima Ballerina". The painting depicts a ballerina dancing while others look on in the background. I chose this painting because I love how Degas was able to crop the painting in a very different way having the ballerina dancing off to the front right side of the paper, I think this adds a very interesting dimension to the painting. I also chose this painting because I loved how he uses loose brushstrokes of the brown and white in the background to resemble as people watching the ballerina dancing.
