This painting was done by Pablo Picasso during what was called his blue period. Pablo was a spanish painter and during the years if 1901 and 1904 he painting in a blue period. During his blue period he painted monochromatic paintings using different shades of blue. This painting displays an old man with minimal ragged clothing who is hunched over his guitar. I learned this was a painting of a man in Barcelona Spain. I found this painting interesting because I have been to Barcelona and seen the povety on the streets and the man in this painting was clearly drawn to show some sort of poverty. Also the color shades Picasso painting with brings about a saddened emotion and coldness to the painting. The detail he used in the hands, face and hair help tell the story of the age and possible struggles this man endurered but also a passion for music too.
